1 degree Asia
Last weekend I was volunteering in a 1 degree Asia. It’s a 5-day youth leadership conference. Being with all these inspiring, positive, charismatic people is highly inspiring! I really learn a lot even though I can’t see all the things happening in the conference room ‘coz I have an usher thing to do. During the workshop, when all the delegates already went in to the class room, I sit in to see what they are discussing. The workshop that I attend was the one about how we as youth can speak up our mind and made a difference.
It was very tiring as I need to walk a lot from one building to other building to bring those delegates from to another session. And in the conference room, we need to distribute the handouts and questionnaires and collect them back. I walk up and down the stairs for countless time!
After the closing ceremony at night, then there was a performance done by the delegates. And even though it’s already late at night, every body still stay and didn’t feel like going home. Some of the usher team and the delegates I met thought that I am still a student (which made me 4-5 years younger?!?!) oh no…anyway, I take it as a compliment. =P
When I was saying good bye to some ppl I met, one of the delegate’s leader say thank to me and say that he knows I didn’t get pay for doing this and he is really appreciate of what we as volunteer do. As for me, I think I gain more than the time I gave in doing this.
